Special Purpose Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (SPGFCI) is designed to protect and safeguard, personnel, equipment, and electrical circuits from ground fault leakage. This line of product mitigates the effects that a ground fault may have on your integrated equipment while also providing shock protection for humans. The unit is engineered to interrupt leakages of 20mA or greater and is capable of clearing 500 Ω faults in less than 21mS to mitigate electrocution. For supplemental shock protection a pilot conductor is provided to monitor the protected equipment chassis ensuring that ambient leakage is being routed away from personnel by a ground path not more than 100 Ω. The threshold setting offers a significant degree of protection for applications such as welders, pumps, motors, and generators and come factory configured with reset type (Auto vs. Manual – safe start) settings. The enclosure is constructed from high impact polycarbonate plastic that withstands Chemical and U.V. light exposure and the end product meets or exceeds a NEMA 4X wet location rating. This device is rated for indoor/outdoor applications as all enclosure entry points are sealed to prevent water intrusion and/or tampering These units come standard with 24” lead wires for electrical splicing and two 1” flexible conduit fittings for integration to 1” flexible, EMT, PVC or burial conduit. These devices are ideal for both new and existing circuit runs (Note: GFCIs only protect downstream or “load side”). This convenience allows the installer to place this GFCI at an accessible location for the end user.
